Capturing Paris

Having lived in Paris for 6 years, it's not surprising I have bucket loads of pictures of Paris. From the iconic Eiffel Tower to the famous museums and the beautiful parks and gardens, I seem to have captured it all at some point or another.

But it has only been in the last year or so that I started focusing on iPhoneography. So here are some of my favourite iPhone photos of Paris from my last year of living in the City of Light. Follow me on Instagram to see more photos from around Europe.

The Opera Garnier has one of the most beautiful interiors of all the buildings in Paris. You can walk up the grand staircase, wander around the magnificent ballroom and admire Marc Chagall's stunning ceiling artwork.

At Les Invalides you'll find the Army Museum and the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The Musee d'Orsay is home to many Impressionist masterpieces as well as a few women warriors.

If modern art is more your thing, head to the Centre Pompidou. I must admit I never ventured inside this museum.

The Conciergerie is one of my favourite buildings in Paris. I love the turrets!

Just next to the Conciergerie is the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris.

Another famous bridge is the Pont des Arts, a pedestrian bridge popular with lovers and their lovelocks.

The Eiffel Tower is probably my least favourite monument in Paris and I've never even been up to the top but I could never resist taking a picture when walking by.

The Luxembourg Gardens are beautiful all year round but especially in spring when the tulips are in flower and in summer when you can have a picnic on the grass.

If you prefer something a little more elegant check out the gardens at the Palais Royal.

The Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil is a little off the beaten path but as my neighbourhood park it's one place I probably visited more than any other. It's a botanical garden with greenhouses which supply most of the plants for the parks in Paris.

Also on the border of Paris is the Bois de Boulogne where you'll find family friendly parks and lakes and a fairly significant number of prostitutes.

Also a little off the beaten path but becoming more popular with tourists is the Canal St Martin. I've had my fair share of expat meetups here.

One more photo of the Louvre just because it makes my heart skip a beat every time I walk by.

Visiting cemetaries is a little weird if you ask me but the Pere Lachaise cemetery is interesting from a historical point of view. There are so many famous people buried here including Jim Morrison.

I think I've been to Montmartre three, maybe four times. I know nothing about the area except that it's packed with tourists and the Sacre Coeur is kinda pretty. PS Watch out for thieves and scammers here.

Last but not least I give you Notre Dame. A photo essay of Paris cannot be complete without it.

Not in Paris proper but within the greater Paris area is the stunning Chateau de Versailles and the gardens which are free to enter.

My only regret is not having an iPhone picture of my favourite building in Paris and the entire world, the Hotel de Ville.
