The blog chronicles my experiences as an Australian who spent 20 years living across Europe, including stints in Paris, Montpellier, London, Budapest and Berat, Albania. What began as documenting Parisian life evolved into a comprehensive resource for European road trips, particularly through regions that don't always make it into mainstream travel guides.

Rearview Mirror takes an unvarnished, personal approach to travel writing, sometimes brutally honest, always authentic. Drawing on my years as a digital nomad and long-term European resident, I focus on destinations such as Albanian mountain villages, forgotten corners of Hungary, and the kind of places you stumble upon during long drives through the Balkans.

The writing style is decidedly Gen X—casual, critical when warranted, and free from the glossy optimism that dominates much travel content. This isn't about bucket lists or perfect Instagram moments; it's about the reality of independent travel in Europe's less-visited corners.

While I no longer actively publish, the site remains a resource for travellers seeking authentic insights into European road trips, particularly for those interested in self-drive holidays and off-the-beaten-path destinations. The guides are regularly updated to maintain their relevance for today's travellers.
